A Lifetime Of Photos

One of my biggest fears is losing any of the tens of thousands of digital photos that I’ve amassed over the years, everything from vacations to childbirths.

Along with backing up all of my photo libraries on external hard drives, I wanted to find a service that would allow me to back up everything to a cloud-based service without breaking the bank. I had used services such as Everpix and Picturelife in the past, but both went out of business after not being able to find a financial model that worked with the amount of data they were dealing with.

Google Photos was the service I settled, and I couldn’t be happier. The best part is that the service gives you free, unlimited storage for photos up to 16 megapixels and videos up to 1080p resolution. Any photo that you take on your phone is automatically uploaded to the service; a similar desktop app is also available.

The app and web interface are well designed and make finding photos easy. Photos are grouped by people’s faces and locations so if you need to find a photo of Uncle Bob, or from your trip to the beach last summer, it won’t take very long.

We all know Google isn’t going anywhere, so you can have peace of mind that you’ll be able to access them for years to come. Sign up today and start uploading!
