Block Club Named Winner in HOW International Design Awards
Block Club has been selected as a Merit winner in the most recent HOW International Design Awards for the identity and branding collateral design work for our client, Big Ditch Brewing Company. This highly selective and well-regarded competition sponsored by HOW magazine recognizes excellence on a global scale.
HOW’s editorial and design team—along with Marina Willer of Pentagram, Sebastian Padilla of Anagrama, and Dana Arnett of VSA Partners—evaluated more than 1,000 entries and selected winning projects that demonstrated an ideal mix of concept, strategy and execution. Entries were judged by project type (e.g., apps, posters, packaging) rather than by industry or region.
“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by HOW for the branding of Big Ditch Brewing Company,” said Brandon Davis, Block Club’s creative director. “It was a pleasure to work with the Big Ditch team, all of whom are just as passionate about quality, experience and branding as we are.”
When designing the branding, Block Club maintained Big Ditch’s signature shovel and brand messaging, and refreshed the logo and identity, implementing it throughout the branding, including menus, stationery, website (launching soon) and more. The agency also designed a series of interior and exterior murals, including one in their two-story taproom, highlighting their core brand values—“Strength Pride Ambition”—inviting guests to share the Big Ditch brand on social media, and in conversation.
Block Club’s branding work for Big Ditch Brewing Company will be featured in the Spring 2016 issue of HOW magazine and will be spotlighted on HOWdesign.com.
