The Last Scoot of the Year
Buffalo had some unseasonably warm weather this week, which meant our director of business development, Dave, could break out his scooter for one last ride.
Feeling benevolent, Dave invited all willing members of the team for a quick tutorial and a scoot around the block. Little did we know that Dave was secretly grading all of us on our scooting skills. Here are the results:
Julie – 8/10
Julie’s familiarity with my old 50cc scooter had her entering the competition as the clear favorite. The 150cc engine was a bit too strong and threw her off of her game. I think she’ll have a strong showing next year.
Tim – 7/10
Tim is a vanilla rider. He follows all the rules, yields to traffic and uses blinkers. All of that bike commuting has made him an ideal cyclist: not too fast, not too slow and he gets there in one piece.
Ryan – 6/10
Ryan almost hit a parked car right out of the gate, but his hair looked incredible.
Steve – 1/10
Steve came the closest to crashing. I had his wife Lindsey’s number pulled up in my phone, just in case we needed to make a “meet us at the hospital” call.
Pat – 7/10
Pat’s conservative approach to the scooter was a relief after Steve and Ryan’s stress-inducing rides, though he’d be a real pain to be stuck behind in traffic.
Brandon – 9/10
This would have been a 10, but Brandon gets a one point taunting penalty after yelling “This isn’t hard!” as he drove by.
Patrick – 2/10
Great scooter rider, but Patrick decided to take a long tour of the Fruit Belt before returning to the office. Inconsiderate use of company time.
Looks like a few of us have some practicing to do before spring!
