When the Block Club team first got together with Unyts to create a new marketing initiative to increase donor registrations in Western New York, we knew we wanted to think outside of the box.

Headquartered in downtown Buffalo, Unyts is among the leading procurement organizations in the United States, and is one of the only eight centers nationwide to house laboratory services, and organ, tissue and eye procurement in one location.

Most of us are familiar with the idea of organ, eye, tissue and blood donation and how important it is for those waiting for transplants and transfusions. With this campaign we wanted to cut right to the chase and develop creative that gets straight to the point; becoming a donor can save someone’s life, and that life could be of a neighbor, colleague, friend or family member.

Because Unyts is WNY’s only organ, eye, tissue and community blood center we cast the video and print campaign with real people from the area, those who are on the transplant list or in need of regular blood transfusions from donors. These are actual WNY residents of all ages, races and creeds who are just waiting—waiting for good news, waiting for a phone call, waiting to regain their lives. Watch their stories here:
The video and print campaign was created and produced by Block Club alongside photographer Rhea Anna.
To support the campaign, we designed the site for Unyts.org/checkyes which dramatically simplifies the donor registration process. All you have to do is visit the site and enter your information and Unyts will send you a completed form for you to sign, date and return. It’s that easy.
Will you help save Warren, Leah, Livvie, Steve, or another one of the thousands of WNY locals who are on the waiting list? Visit Unyts.org/checkyes to become a donor today.
