Dispatch: The Doors of Paris
I did so much walking this weekend, and I saw so many different sides of Paris. One thing that remains constant: the massive, heavy doors that open into the courtyards and stairwells of the upper residential floors of the buildings on every street in the city.
I love noticing someone come out or go in their door in the chaos of the sidewalk, because I know the feeling of shutting the giant wooden door to my building and just like that, all of the street noise is muffled and you’re in your familiar space. Or, when you open your door and step outside and immediately get pulled into the flow of pedestrians.
From a less romantic perspective, the doors are also just really beautiful, many of them ornate or colorful. Above are a few that caught my eye this weekend.
