It’s Your Lucky Day
If you find yourself at the doorstep of 320 Pearl St. in the 716, don’t fret: It’s your Lucky Day.
Owners of one of my favorite local bars, Ballyhoo, Tim and Morgan Stevens, reached out to Block Club to help brand their new venture, a whiskey bar and restaurant. The restaurant serves hearty house-made hand pies, Limburger and Liverwurst, and the largest whiskey menu in a 50-mile radius.
I was lucky enough to be tasked with putting together the identity, menu and other branded elements for the restaurant.
Their main attraction is their deep whiskey library. Gigantic backlit shelves loom over the bar and hold hundreds of bottles of whiskey, bourbon, Scotch and other spirits from all over the planet. This is where my main inspiration was drawn from: the lettering and design of whiskey labels. The heavy lithography-like chiseled letters are big and bold, carried in and in an upward swoop, giving the logo motion. The delicate lines and softer, round descriptor copy balance the mark, helping to direct other parts of the collateral. We added foil-stamped borders and embellishments here and there.
We couldn’t be happier with the result.
