The digital frontier can be overwhelming. There’s always a new platform to join, and new features added to those you already use.
We’ve taken great strides at Block Club to utilize our social-media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn) and improve them to be as effective as possible. Here are a few things to avoid, no matter your level of experience:
Joining every social-media platform
Determine who your audience is and pick the appropriate platform for them. Focus all of your attention on the platforms where your audience lives. Not every business needs to be on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat and Periscope. Take some time to explore and evaluate new platforms as they emerge and determine if it makes sense for your business to join.
Creating extra work for your audience
Don’t ask your customers to “find us on Facebook” or expect them to follow through with your call-to-action on their own. Create the path of least resistance for your audience and guide them through the action you want them to take.
Micromanaging your marketers
You’ve likely spent a lot of time and effort getting your team into place; trust the same instincts you had when hiring them to trust that they’ll execute your team’s marketing plan effectively.
Last but not least, have fun with your content and make sure to keep your channels updated regularly.
