Pantone Names Rose Quartz & Serenity the Colors of 2016

For the first time, Pantone has released two colors: Pantone 13-1520 Rose Quartz and Pantone 15-3919 Serenity as the color(s) of the year. The 2016 color choices convey a harmonious and calming effect, in contrast from 2015’s Pantone of the Year, the deep red Marsala.

In the release, Pantone stated: “…Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” The colors will bring a calming effect into the fast-paced 2016 we’re headed into.

Pantone also mentioned that these pastel hues tap into the societal movement towards equality and fluidity as the colors are blended in harmony. This year was a year of gender neutrality that they believe will carry over into 2016.

The Pantone Color of the Year trends on the runways, in home décor and design, year after year. I am excited to see how these two colors will be utilized in 2016’s trends with not one, but two, Pantone colors.
