The Art of the Opinion

I’m an editorial guy at heart. Persuasive essays, op-eds, letters to the editor; these make me smile as both a journalist and engaged citizen. Our free media should be a place for facts, yes, but also perspectives and personal ideas. These are great opportunities for imagery to further illustrate the ironies and emotions in the text.

The New York Times Opinion Section has a fantastic legacy of editorial art. It’s captured on an Instagram account for you to enjoy, too. Whenever I see one of these pieces pop up, I imagine the story that it was attached to. You can usually sense the story in the visuals.
