The Jet Age: Vintage Airline Identity

As we scramble with plans for last minute weekend trips and DIY getaways to make the most of our September—this collar-wilting, last-gasp of summer—the New York Times looks back on a time when travel seemed a different thing entirely.

An interview with Matthias C. Hühne, author of “Airline Visual Identity, 1945-1975″, the feature sheds an interesting light on a time when travel agents were a real thing, and eye-catching airline advertisements on the wall could determine someone’s final destination. It’s pretty neat and quite surreal to consider the ways of the “Jet Age” from the deep woods of the internet era.
